Toyota will debut another dedicated hybrid vehicle at next year's Detroit Auto Show, the automaker revealed today. Although details have yet to be announced, it's speculated the new concept will utilize Toyota's latest Hybrid Synergy Drive.
Reports have been swirling around the Web for some time now concerning a small hybrid that could cost around $3000 less than the current Prius. Is this it? Possibly. With the Auris HSD Concept making its debut at this year's Frankfurt Show, it's fairly evident that Toyota is full steam ahead with its plans for a broad lineup of hybrid vehicles.
The next-generation Hybrid Synergy Drive propels vehicles solely on electric or gasoline power. Vehicles with HSD can also be powered by a combination of the two sources. Its gasoline engine can be used for both propulsion and generator duties.
Check back for more information and pictures once the new concept makes its debut directly from Cobo Hall.
