Pontiac's replacement for the Grand Prix, based on the Holden Commodore VE, will feature a front-end similar to the Solstice roadster.
GM's Vice Chairman, Bob Lutz, confirmed that the Austrailian-built car will be exported to the US as the Pontiac G8. More details will follow when it debuts at the Chicago Auto Show next month. The new G8 will be based on the Zeta platform and will be RWD only.
GM had failed their attempt similar to this when they imported the Holden Monaro Coupe as a rebadged Pontiac GTO. It suffered criticisms because of its bland styling. Pontiac's spokesman, Jim Hopson, stated that the new G8 will definitely go through alot of styling changes to make it 'uniquely Pontiac' and 'uniquely American'.
