DaimlerChrysler AG announced today that they have recalled 1650 MKII Smart Fortwos in Europe after reports of steering problems. The recall was announced after DaimlerChrysler received numerous reports that a locking ring was not installed correctly.The second-generation Fortwos went on sale in April and they have sold 12000 units since. DaimlerChrysler spokesman Hubert Kogel stated that all affected vehicles were recalled, repaired, and returned to their owners. No accidents or injuries were caused by this issue.
