2008 Ford Five Hundred (NAIAS)

The revised Ford Five Hundred debuted at the North American International Autoshow. The most obvious change seen on these pics is the revised front with the bold three-bar grille also found on the Fusion. New wheels and taillights can be also seen. The biggest change though in the specs is the new 3.5L V6 engine that powers 260hp, a difference of 57hp from the outgoing model. The new Five Hundred can be also optioned with a navigation system now (finally) and soon, Ford's new multimedia system, SYNC, which was introduced not too long ago.
Overall, this is a very needed refresh as the Five Hundred's sales were very low mainly because of its underpowered engine and a severely (it had to be used) bland design. The only flaw that I find is the headlights. It would have worked out better if the headlights were taller than the grille like the Fusion.
The first image shows a comparison between the outgoing and the new Five Hundred. Ford did a good job refreshing this. This was also one of the last cars that involved Bill Ford before his resignation.
